Proscenic is a Taiwanese company that manufactures cordless vacuums, robot vacuums, and robot mops. One of their robot vacuum cleaners is the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner.

Main features of the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Priced at less than $300, the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner comes with some of the more advanced technologies that you can find on more expensive robot vacuums. These features include a HEPA filter, Wi-Fi connectivity, compatibility with Amazon Alexa, and a mopping option.

Three cleaning modes

The Proscenic 790T uses area, edge, and auto cleaning to go over your floors. The Proscenic 790T follows a parallel cleaning path, methodically going one straight line after straight line to adequately cover your floors. This is unlike most robot vacuums, which just go in a random direction, leaving a lot of uncleaned spots.

Design and dimensions

The Proscenic 790T has a diameter of 13.0 inches and a height of 3.5 inches. This means that the robot vacuum can clean a big area in a single pass, and that it has a low enough profile to get under sofas, tables, and other furniture. When it comes to design, the Proscenic 790T really does not differ too much from other robot vacuums. It has a round shape, a three-stage cleaning process, two side brushes, and a main brush. But perhaps you would appreciate how elegant and expensive it looks with its gold color and brush metal appearance.

Sensors

The Proscenic 790T uses three different kinds of sensors to avoid bumping into walls and other obstacles. It can also avoid dropping off steep drops. Meanwhile, it is able to climb from hardwood floors to carpeted areas. In fact, the robot vacuum can easily climb up to 0.4 inches.

Optional wet and dry mopping. The Proscenic 790T comes with a detachable wet and dry mopping mechanism. This way, it does not only suck the dirt and debris off your floors, but it will also wipe it down for a better clean.

Interchangeable vacuum

With the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner, you can sweep and vacuum your floors using the bristle brush component. The brush is great for sweeping, agitating, and loosening up dirt and debris. However, if you have pets and you want to clean up their hair without having to deal with tangles, you can take out the bristle brush component and replace it with the vacuum port. You can also use the vacuum port for bigger debris. The vacuum port does not have any brushes, allowing the suction to suck in everything that goes into its path. Regardless of which one you use, a pair of side brushes will help either the bristle brush or the vacuum port by sweeping the debris onto its path.

What you would like about the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner

The Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner gives you several ways to control it. You can use the buttons on top of the robot vacuum, or the mobile app. You can also use Amazon Alexa and start cleaning using voice commands. Or you can use the included remote control.

On top of all these, you can use the mobile app to schedule cleaning times. This way, the robot vacuum will start cleaning by itself when the appointed time comes.

The Proscenic 790T may not have laser mapping technology or an onboard camera that can create floor plans for your room, but it does have the iPNAS Programmed Cleaning System Automatic Navigation. It uses ultrasound sensors to create a map of your floors, helping it plan the most efficient route. This also enables the Proscenic app to show you a map of your floors and where the robot vacuum has cleaned, as well as the precise location of the robot vacuum at any given time.

You would also like how the Proscenic 790T follows a line-by-line cleaning pattern, rather than moving around your floors randomly. This helps the robot vacuum clean your floors comprehensively without missing a spot. You can also check this by looking at the map on your mobile app.

Furthermore, the Proscenic 790T has a strong suction power at 1,500Pa. This means that the motor on this robot vacuum is at par with some of the best handheld vacuum cleaners. The strong suction is more than enough to pick up all types of dirt, dust, and pet hair. This gives it enough suction power to efficiently clean rugs, thin carpets, and flat surfaces.

Then you also have the HEPA filter, which traps more dust and debris inside the dustbin, rather than have it re-circulate back into the air. Also, even with a 1,500 pa suction power, the Proscenic 790T works rather quietly. It is rated to have a noise level of around 60 decibels to 65 decibels. This is just as quiet as playing background music, or a conversation in a quiet office.

The biggest attraction of the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner, however, lies in its flexibility. You can use this robot vacuum for any kind of cleaning you want. It sweeps your floors clean, vacuums dust, dirt, and debris into the dustbin, and then mop at the same time. You can even choose to have it wipe down your floors with either a dry or a wet mop. The interchangeable bristle brush and vacuum port also allow you to either clear away dust and debris or efficiently get rid of pet hair.

What could be better

There are three main complaints when it comes to the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner. First is that the robot vacuum seems to be hit or miss when it comes to durability. Some reviewers on Amazon complained about the robot vacuum breaking down after a few months or not working properly. Others reported problems with the wheel or the sensors, saying that their Proscenic 790T would go around in circles, or is unable to ride a low-pile carpet. There are also Amazon reviews that seem to be more positive.

Another potential problem would be after-sales support. The company’s website does not have a chat option. Their frequently asked questions page is poorly written and might not be that easily understood. Plus, there are complaints about the company’s support people as being easy to talk to, but not necessarily helpful.

The biggest downside to getting a Proscenic 790T, however, comes from the mobile app. The mobile app itself is very buggy. There are complaints that the app would not open, or would not work as well as advertised. Some people cannot find their robot vacuum on the list of devices. Or they have the app disconnecting frequently.

As far as the robot vacuum goes, you might miss some features. For one, it can find its way back to the dock, but it does not resume cleaning after charging.

Alternatives to the Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum

If you want to own a robot vacuum cleaner that has Wi-Fi connectivity, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and excellent cleaning features, the good news is that you no longer have to spend top dollar to get one. Over the years, robot vacuums that have all these have fallen in price. There are now several robot vacuums that are priced lower than $300 and still give you everything you want. Two great alternatives for Proscenic 790T are Ecovac Deebot M80 Pro and the Eufy Robovac 11c.

Like the Proscenic 790T, the Eufy Robovac 11c is Wi-Fi connected, and uses two side brushes and a main brush to clean your floors. The three-stage cleaning process is augmented by a HEPA-style filter and long battery life. This robot vacuum also has a slightly bigger dustbin, accommodating 0.60 liters of dust before you need to empty it. The Eufy Robovac 11c, however, has a weaker suction power at only 1,000 Pa.

Meanwhile, the Ecovac Deebot M80 Pro is the cheapest of the three, with a price tag of only $200. It has the same Wi-Fi connectivity, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and an efficient cleaning system. However, the cheaper robot vacuum does not have a HEPA filter and it uses a nickel metal hydride battery.

Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner: final recommendations

The Proscenic 790T Robot Vacuum Cleaner proves yet again that good robot vacuums that offer efficient clean and modern conveniences need not be too expensive. This robot vacuum can rival more established brands when cleaning your floors. It is a good buy for people who are looking to save money.

The Proscenic 790T offers wet and dry mopping features, which is something that you do not usually see on budget robot vacuums.

However, the product is plagued by unreliability issues and a bad mobile app. If you do not want to risk being frustrated by the mobile app experience, you can check out Eufy Robovac 11c or the Ecovac Deebot M80 Pro. These may not be as powerful as the 1,500 Pa suction power you see on the 790T, but their mobile app offers a better experience.
